Jenna Bush, born in 1981, moved into the White House when her father, George W. Bush, became president in 2001. She, along with her twin sister, seemed to thrive during their time in the presidential residence. At 20 years of age, she attended the University of Texas and moved between Austin and Washington, D.C. She had a passion for English and public speaking - something that she had always been incredibly good at. Even though she was so young, the public could tell that she would go on to achieve great things, just like her parents.
From a young age, Jenna wanted to become an author, and after obtaining her degree in English, she was well on her way to achieving her dreams.

After graduating, Jenna got a job as a teacher and reading coordinator at a public school in Washington, D.C. She also co-authored a number of books alongside her mother, Laura Bush. In 2019, she displayed her excellent public speaking skills by becoming the host of NBC’s ‘Today’ show. Known for her warmth and reliability, Jenna became a beloved face of the show amongst viewers and her co-workers. In 2008, she tied the knot with her partner, Henry Hager, and the couple went on to have three children together.
Jenna has been open about her personal development and growth, a lot of which she attributes to her time spent in the White House. She has also become somewhat of a health and wellness influencer, sharing her fitness and lifestyle journey through social media.
Barbara Bush - Then
Barbara Bush, the twin sister of Jenna Bush Hager, moved into the White House at the age of 20 after their father was elected president in 2001. She had always been an incredibly smart and academically gifted young woman. More so, she was known for her compassion and grace, which prompted her to pursue a career in the humanities. During her time in the White House, she attended the University of Yale, where she obtained her degree in 2004.
Not long after, she co-founded the Global Health Corps - a non-profit organization that aims to improve health equity worldwide. With her career success, Barbara decided to leave the White House.

Today, Barabara continues to serve on the board of the Global Health Corps. However, she is also an author, having co-written the book ‘Sisters First’, which documents her time in the White House. Amy Carter - Then
Born in 1967, Amy Carter was just 9 years of age when her father, Jimmy Carter, became president. She became the youngest child to ever live in the White House, following the Kennedy children. She was one of the only presidential children to attend a public school during her time in the White House. However, her parents wanted to ensure she lived a relatively normal childhood. Amy was known for her love of reading and was rarely seen without her pet Siamese cat, Misty Malarky Ying Yang.
Even at a young age, Amy had strong morals and opinions. She always stood up for what she believed in while maintaining a relatively low profile on the public stage.
Amy Carter - Now
After leaving the White House, Amy went on to study art at the prestigious Brown University and, later, the Memphis College of Art. Finally, she received her Master’s degree from Tulane University. In the 1980s, she became heavily involved in activism, participating in a number of protests. At one of them, she was even arrested. However, in recent years, she has kept a much lower profile, working as a book illustrator and serving on the board of the Carter Center.
In 1996, Amy married James Wentzel, and the couple went on to have a son named Hugo James Wentzel. Today, they live in Atlanta, Georgia, where Amy continues to enjoy a private life, shielded from the public eye.
Susan Ford - Then
Susan Ford, daughter of former President Gerald Ford, moved into the White House as a teenager in 1974. In 1975, she made history by hosting her senior prom at the White House, a unique event that garnered a lot of media attention. During her time as the First Daughter, she studied photojournalism at Mount Vernon College—a practice that she was very passionate about. When her mother, Betty Ford, was hospitalized, she also stepped in as the White House hostess.
Susan Ford was arguably one of the most active presidential children, having attended numerous political events alongside her family. She took her role seriously and, as a result, grew up in the public eye.

After graduating, Susan worked as a photojournalist for various publications, such as Newsweek and the Associated Press. Additionally, since her time in the White House, she has written a number of books, including a very popular mystery series. She currently serves as a Trustee of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation and remains involved with the Betty Ford Center. To this day, she still makes public appearances through her charitable work and public speaking.
In 1979, Susan married Charles Vance, but they later divorced. She recently married her second husband, a man named Vaden Bales, and relocated to McKinney, Texas. Susan is now 67 years of age.
Steven Ford - Then
Born in 1956, Steven Ford moved into the White House as a teenager when his father became president in 1974. In the same year, he graduated from T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Virginia. From a young age, Steven was a jack of all trades, excelling both academically and onstage as an actor. In 1975, Steven enrolled at Utah State University, where he studied range management and equine studies. However, his real passion was acting, and during his time in the White House, he attended a number of auditions and acting classes.
Steven, along with his sister, spent a lot of time in the public eye, supporting their father at political events. He had a far-from-ordinary childhood. However, he still looks back fondly at his time as the First Son.
Steven Ford - Now
Steven Ford’s acting career took off after leaving the White House. In 1981, he joined the cast of The Young and the Restless, which earned him a number of additional roles. He went on to feature in blockbuster hits such as When Harry Met Sally and Armageddon, Grease, and Black Hawk Down. He still takes on a few acting roles, but he largely focuses his efforts on raising money for charitable organizations and giving motivational talks. He still serves on the board of the Gerald R. Ford Foundation.
Since leaving the White House, Ford has been honest about his struggles with alcohol addiction and the pressure of growing up as a presidential child. At the age of 68, he has never married or had any kids of his own.
Julie Nixon - Then
Julie Nixon was born in 1948 and moved into the White House at the age of 21 after her father, Richard Nixon, was elected President in 1969. She suddenly found herself in the public eye, though she seemed to have no issue with the pressure that came with being the First Daughter. Julie was known for her active role in supporting her father, attending every political event with him. During the Watergate scandal, she was ever present to defend him.
During her time as the First Daughter, Julie worked as the assistant managing editor of the Sunday Evening Post. She had also married David Eisenhower, the grandson of president Dwight D. Eisenhower, making her a prominent political figure.
Julie Nixon Eisenhower - Now
Since her time in the White House, Julie has written a number of best-selling books, including a biography of her mother, Pat Nixon. To this day, she continues to work towards preserving her parents’ legacies. In fact, at the age of 76, she still serves on the board of directors of the Richard Nixon Foundation. David and Julie relocated to Pennsylvania and have three children of their own that they love spending time with.
With both having grown up in the public eye, they have since chosen to pursue a much quieter and more private life. Julie now focuses her efforts on writing, lecturing, and teaching.
Tricia Nixon - Then
Tricia Nixon, born in 1946, moved into the White House at the age of 28 after her father, Richard Nixon, was elected president in 1969. Unlike her sister, Julie, she was known for her reserved and introverted personality. However, she still accompanied her family to political events and supported her father during his presidency. In 1971, she married Edward F. Cox, with the ceremony being held in the Rose Garden, making for the first wedding held outdoors on the official White House grounds.
She showed no interest in following in her father’s footsteps by pursuing a political career. Instead, she chose to focus on her family - even during her time as the First Daughter.
Tricia Nixon - Now
As soon as her father stepped down from office, Tricia removed herself from the public spotlight. She has lived a quiet and private life ever since moving to the suburbs of New York with her husband. The couple had their only child, Christopher Nixon Cox, in 1979. Even though Tricia prefers a quiet life, she still serves on the board of several medical research institutions and the Richard Nixon Foundation.
To this day, she also supports a number of charitable organizations and, like her sister, remains committed to preserving her father’s legacy.
Ivanka Trump - Then
Ivanka Trump, born in 1981, is the second child of former President Donald Trump and his wife, Ivana. She was 35 years old at the time of her father’s election, meaning that she didn’t actually live in the White House with her family. However, she did serve as the senior advisor of the Trump administration during his time in office and as the director of the Office of Economic Initiatives and Entrepreneurship.
Throughout her time as a presidential child, she went from strength to strength in her own career. She had always been a part of her father’s inner circle, but he trusted her more than anyone when it came to administration.
Ivanka Trump - Now
After her father left office, Ivanka decided to put politics behind her. She recently announced that she would not be joining her father’s administration as they make their third bid for the White House. Instead, she has chosen to prioritize her own career, family, and (in her words) happiness. Ivanka, along with her husband Jared Kushner and their 3 children, currently live in Miami. She leads a relatively quite, private life, especially compared to her father.
Ivanka claims she was exhausted after departing the White House in 2021, having given so much of her time and effort to the Trump Administration. Now, she lives a much more private life.
Ronald Prescott Reagan - Then
Born in 1958, Ronald Prescott Reagan (or Ron Reagan) grew up in the public eye after his father was elected president in 1981. It was evident from a young age that Ron was not interested in following in his father's footsteps. While he attended Yale for one semester, he ultimately decided to drop out to pursue a career in ballet. During his time as the First Son, he attended the Joffrey Ballet Academy.
Ron never really enjoyed the attention that came with being a presidential child. However, while he might not have been the most active First Son, he remained in the public eye through his role as a radio show host and political commentator.
Ronald Prescott Reagan - Now
Since leaving the White House, Ron has garnered considerable attention for his criticisms of his father’s legacy. Though he is now retired, he had a successful career in broadcasting, commentating for several radio stations, including Air America and MSNBC. Ron married his long-time partner, Doria Palmieri, in 1980. However, she sadly passed away in 2014 after 30 years of marriage. Nowadays, he lives a much more private life, along with his new wife, Federica Basagni.
While he still attends some media campaigns and public speaking engagements, he largely keeps to himself and focuses on his family.
Caroline Kennedy - Then
Caroline Kennedy, born in 1957, moved into the White House at just 3 years of age, making her the youngest-ever First Child. She spent nearly her entire childhood in the White House, making for a rather unique upbringing. As she was so young, her family did their best to shield her from the public eye. Sadly, her father, President John F. Kennedy, was assassinated when Caroline was just 12 years of age.
Following this historic event, she was forced to move out of the only home that she had ever known. She left Washington, D.C., and relocated to the Upper East Side of Manhattan to live with her mother.
Caroline Kennedy - Now
After leaving the White House, Caroline attended Radcliffe College and later earned a Juris Doctor Degree from Columbia Law School. Following her graduation, she worked at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where she met and fell in love with her husband, Edwin Schlossberg. She has since served as a U.S. Ambassador to Japan and Australia. Other than her diplomatic roles, Kennedy is a highly accomplished attorney and author, having published a number of books on history, law, and politics.
Caroline has three adult children and is still happily married to Edwin. She is still in the public eye and has dedicated her career to public service and carrying forward her family legacy.
Barron Trump - Then
Barron Trump, the youngest son of former president Donald Trump, kept a pretty low profile during his time in the White House. His mother, Melania Trump, made sure to keep her son out of the spotlight, allowing him to lead a pretty ordinary life - as far as presidential children go, anyway. However, he did appear at a number of events alongside his parents, such as the annual White House Easter Egg Roll and the solar eclipse of 2017.
Even at these gatherings, he always kept to himself, showing off his rather shy personality. Melania always described Barron as a typical little boy who enjoyed video games, seeing his friends, and even going to school.
Barron Trump - Now
Barron Trump is currently 18 years old and attending the University of New York. The former First Son lives in his father’s Trump Tower building on Fifth Avenue in Midtown and commutes daily with his security team. According to those closest to him, Barron is very passionate about business and plans to follow in his father's footsteps by, one day, opening his own business. We have no doubt he will be just as successful as his business-minded dad.
He continues to keep a relatively low profile on the public stage, seemingly intent on focusing on his career and aspirations. As far as presidential children go, Barron lives a pretty normal life, thanks to his mother's help and support.
Chelsea Clinton - Then
Chelsea Clinton moved into the White House at the age of 12 when her father, Bill Clinton, was elected president in 1993. During her time in Washington, D.C., she attended the Sidwell Friends School and was often seen accompanying her parents to various political events. From a young age, Chelsea was a very academically gifted child who everyone assumed would follow in her father’s footsteps in politics and law.
Although she enjoyed her time in the White House, Chelsea chose to pursue higher education at the University of Stanford, where she relocated in 1997. Even though she was still in the public eye, she spent her university years focusing on her own career and personal development.

Chelsea received a Bachelor’s Degree in history from Stanford. However, she was not done there. She has since built herself a rather diverse career, working for McKinsey & Company, Avenue Capital Group, and NBC. She is also closely involved with the Clinton Foundation, where she serves on the main board.
Chelsea is also a highly successful author, having written a number of best-selling children’s books and a scholarly book on global health policy. In 2010, the former First Daughter married her long-time partner, Marc Mazvinsky, and the couple has since had three children together.
Malia Obama - Then
Malia Obama spent her formative years in the White House as a First Daughter. While her parents did their best to shield her from the public eye, her childhood was anything but ordinary. At 10 years of age, she moved into the White House and began attending Sidwell Friends School in Washington, DC. More so, her career choice couldn’t have been any more different from that of her family, showing that she really has become her own woman.
Even though Malia works in the entertainment industry, she has been able to maintain a somewhat normal life. She is still incredibly close to her parents and younger sister, Sasha.
Sasha Obama - Then
Sasha Obama grew up in the public eye after her father was appointed the 44th President of the United States. At the age of 6, her family moved into the White House, where she spent the majority of her formative years. She participated in a number of political events alongside her parents and older sister. However, her mother ensured that she still lived a relatively normal life, balancing the pressures of being a First Daughter with an ordinary childhood.
She attended school, frequently had play dates with friends, and even had a keen interest in sports. That said, she was never seen in public without her security guards.
Sasha Obama - Now
Since then, Sasha Obama has grown into a poised and rather driven young woman. As soon as she graduated high school, she attended the University of Southern California, where she lived on campus. embracing student life to the fullest. This surprised many people, who automatically assumed she would be accepted into an Ivy League college. Her friends and family describe her as a well-rounded individual who continues to navigate early adulthood with grace.
She is currently 23 years old and keeps a relatively low profile. Sasha has ambitious career goals and now focuses on personal growth and achieving these goals.
Tiffany Trump - Then
Tiffany Trump is the fourth child of former President Donald Trump and his only child with his second wife, Marla Maples. Named after the jeweler Tiffany & Co., her life was far from ordinary from the day she was born. She mostly lived with her mother but made a few public appearances alongside her father during his time as president. She has always lived an incredibly lavish lifestyle, benefiting from the wealth and fame of both her mother and father.
She didn’t live in the White House for most of her time as the First Daughter. At 23 years of age, at the time of her father's election, she already had her own house and career aspirations.
Tiffany Trump - Now
Unlike her father, Tiffany was always more interested in the entertainment industry than politics and business. She even dabbled in music, releasing her very own song entitled ‘Like a Bird’. However, with little success as a singer, she chose to attend Georgetown University, where she studied law. After graduating, she got a job at the university, where she works as the head of the Cyber Law Society. This is quite surprising to many who hear this.
On top of this, she serves as a research assistant for Shon Hopwood, who specializes in promoting prison reform. It’s safe to say that her career didn’t quite turn out as she had expected, but she is definitely excelling in her field.
Eric Trump - Then
Eric Trump is the middle child of the Trump brood, born on January 6, 1984, to Donald and Ivana Trump (Donald's first wife). As a young boy, he spent a lot of his time in the Czech countryside alongside his maternal grandparents. As far as presidential children go, he actually had a pretty humble upbringing and was taught the value of education and hard work from a young age.
Eric was 32 years old when his father was elected President, meaning that he didn’t actually live in the White House. That said, he visited frequently to attend political and family events.
Eric Trump - Now
In 2002, Eric graduated from the Hill School with a degree in finance and management from Georgetown University in Washington D.C. While he briefly considered pursuing his own career, he ultimately decided to join the family business and now works as the executive vice president of the Trump Organization. Even though Eric had a relatively humble upbringing, it’s safe to say that his life has taken a drastic turn since then.
He is one of the wealthiest presidential children ever, with a current net worth of over $350 million. He is a hard worker and is not afraid of a challenge, which can be seen in his success.
Donald Trump Jr. - Then
Donald Trump Jr. is the oldest son of the 45th President of the United States. Nicknamed Don Jr., the former First Son was 39 years of age at the time of his father’s election. For this reason, he did not actually live in the White House but rather in his own home with his own family. However, he was incredibly active during his father’s time in office, serving as a trustee and executive vice president of the Trump Organization.
Don married Vanessa Pergolizzi in 2005, but the couple divorced in 2018, two years into his stint as First Son. The two share custody of their five children.
Donald Trump Jr. - Now
Today, Donald Trump Jr. is a businessman, activist, television presenter, and author. In 2019, he released his first publication, ‘Triggered,’ which focuses on his political views. He is still very much active in his father’s administration, working as the executive vice president of the Trump Organization. He has not remarried since his split from Vanessa Trump. However, he does enjoy spending time with his five children.
He has four sons and one daughter, and other than spending time with them, he works in The Trump Organization with his younger brother, Eric.
Lynda Bird Johnson - Then
Lynda Bird Johnson, the eldest daughter of President Lyndon B. Johnson, was born in Washington, D.C., on March 19, 1944. She moved into the White House as a young adult after her father was elected president in 1963. During her time as the First Daughter, she was known for her active social life and her high-profile relationship with actor George Hamilton. She was definitely not one of the First Daughter's that led a quiet life.
She made a number of public appearances in support of her father. In 1967, Lynda married a captain of the U.S. Marine Corps, with the ceremony being held in the White House.
Lynda Bird Johnson - Now
Since leaving the White House, Lynda has been deeply involved in public service and, more specifically, literacy advocacy. She served as the chairwoman of the largest children’s literacy organization in the country and, to this day, continues to raise money for a number of charitable causes. Lynda, now 80 years old, had 3 children with her husband and now has several grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with her grandchildren as often as possible.
She remains active in preserving her parents’ legacy through the Lyndon Baines Johnson Foundation and the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.
